The apartments were born from the renovation of the main floor of the palace of the ancient Marcello family, known by the appellation "dei Leoni" for the presence of two stone high-reliefs set into the sides of the main door, probably coming from the Church of San Tomà after it was rebuilt in the late 14th century.
The palace`s portico opens onto the "Fondamenta del Traghetto" where there are many gondola mooring posts, which offer the possibility of crossing the Grand Canal while admiring the Rialto Bridge.
